Joint Venture Successful Once Again: With a Multifaceted Program and Renowned Speakers, Organizers Enthused Numerous Attendees About Ceramic Implants and Aesthetic Concepts in the Capital on May 9–10
The second weekend of May at the Dorint Hotel Berlin Kurfürstendamm couldn’t have gone better for the many participants. As in previous years, the professional societies ISMI (International Society of Metal Free Implantology e.V.) and DGKZ (German Society for Cosmetic Dentistry e.V.) combined their annual meetings, leveraging the potential of shared platforms to set trends in both disciplines.
Ceramic Implants – State of the Art
For its 9th annual meeting, the International Society of Metal Free Implantology e.V. focused on future trends, clinical evidence, and best practices in the field of metal-free implantology, under the scientific direction of Dr. Karl Ulrich Volz and Dr. Dominik Nischwitz. Ceramic implants continue to be in vogue and are gaining increasing importance—not only from an aesthetic perspective, as was clearly demonstrated by the exciting and multifaceted program. What is the current state of data? What new studies have been published or are in development? Are ceramic implants (still) viable for the future? The speakers presented the current favorable conditions in their specialized field and offered an optimistic outlook. In addition to clinical case studies and presented evidence, the focus was also on the exchange of experiences—at an international level as well.
At the ISMI Pre-Congress Symposium, Dr. Robert Bauder gave a lecture on “Ceramic Immediate Implants as a Time-Efficient Game Changer for Optimizing Overall Health & Longevity,” and Dr. Dominik Nischwitz spoke on “From Technician to Health Expert – The Evolution of Dentistry and the Rise of Biodentistry 3.0.” Further valuable contributions were made by Moritz Kneer, Dr. Adina Landschoof, and ZA Ralf Petersen. The pre-congress offered not only practical content but also ample space for professional discussions.
The accompanying industry exhibition was very well received. It showcased not only product innovations but also served as a popular venue for collegial exchanges. Thus, as in the previous year, it was fitting to end the evening with food, drinks, light music, and good conversations. On Saturday, the popular Table Clinics provided ample opportunity for in-depth exchange on specialized topics.
Saturday at ISMI was dedicated to science. Speakers included Dr. Dominik Nischwitz, Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Shahram Ghanaati, Priv.-Doz. Dr. Peter Gehrke, Dr. Thomas Franke, Dr. Markus Sperlich and Dr. Mathias Sperlich, Dr. Susanna Zentai, Dr. Gregor Hočevar, and Dr. Rebekka Ellenrieder.
Dream Smiles Meet Reality
“Aesthetic Concepts with Substance” formed the thematic focus of the DGKZ’s annual meeting under the scientific direction of Prof. Dr. Martin Jörgens. This year’s content focus was a response to patients’ changing expectations and desires. In addition to restoring natural, functional conditions in the oral and maxillofacial area, these desires are reflected in both simple and complex aesthetic solutions. Under the main theme “Aesthetic Concepts,” speakers and panelists included Prof. Jörgens, Prof. Dr. Christian R. Gernhardt, Anh Duc Nguyen, Dr. Natalie Pütz, Dr. Theodor Thiele, and Dr. Petra Schumacher. Both specialists in cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry and general practitioners were able to take home valuable insights from the presentations.
The lively atmosphere among attendees, the harmonious cooperation between the two professional societies, and the resulting depth of content once again created a remarkable win-win situation for all participants. The joint platform invited active participation and discussion, while the individual lecture segments offered in-depth explorations of key topics.

The German capital has always been a great venue for a meeting of ceramic implant users and the ISMI Annual Conference. For this reason, the ISMI (International Society of Metal Free Implantology e.V.) will return to Berlin in 2025. The organizers have once again prepared an exciting and diverse program.
Ceramic implants remain highly popular and are gaining increasing importance, not only from an aesthetic perspective. At the same time, the body of research is expanding, with various studies underway. These are excellent conditions for looking optimistically toward the future and defining, through international professional exchange, what constitutes the state of the art in “ceramic implantology” today.
In addition to lectures on current issues, joint panels with the simultaneously held annual conference of the German Society for Cosmetic Dentistry e.V. (DGKZ) will once again highlight the interdisciplinary aspect of our work.
Located close to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and the vibrant world of Kurfürstendamm, the Dorint Hotel Kurfürstendamm will offer not only a comprehensive update on ceramic implants but also the popular table clinics, workshops, and ample time for collegial exchange.

The latest edition of ceramic implants features a fresh, innovative design that sets new standards for dental publications. This redesign is more than just a visual update; it includes functional revisions that enhance the reading experience. As a leading medium in the international ceramic implants community, the magazine regularly provides users worldwide with a unique professional medium of its kind, including studies, practice-oriented user reports, and information on events, industry, and products. Additionally, ceramic implants tracks the activities of international professional societies, such as ISMI, IAOCI, ESCI, and EACim, giving it a unique direct outreach.
A standout feature is the dynamic use of different photo sizes in case presentations. This approach creates a visually appealing presentation of clinical cases, with details highlighted clearly and effectively. Large, high-resolution images capture the reader’s attention, while smaller, supporting photos provide additional context, making the content both informative and engaging.
The new cover design offers unprecedented flexibility, allowing for personalized and thematic covers for each issue. The soft and smooth texture of the cover, achieved through special paper and finishing techniques, provides a tactile experience that is pleasing to touch and sight. This attention to material selection enhances the premium character of the magazine, reflecting the sophistication and quality of ceramic implants.
The magazine’s new layout matches the overall refreshed appearance of OEMUS MEDIA AG’s publications and underscores the brand’s commitment to high standards in both content and presentation. It is a testament to OEMUS MEDIA AG’s dedication to innovation. This new design ensures that readers receive the most relevant and up-to-date information in a format that is both engaging and educational, promising a significant advancement in the reading experience for dentists worldwide.
Published since 2017 by OEMUS MEDIA AG, the English-language magazine appears three times a year with a worldwide circulation of 10,000 copies each.
All publications by OEMUS MEDIA AG are available as ePapers on ZWP online and can also be ordered from the publisher’s online shop.
After a successful premiere in fall 2021 and and two extremely successful follow ups, the next coup is already on the horizon: On October 11 and 12, 2024, the 4th Joint Congress for Ceramic Implantology will take place in Kreuzlingen/Switzerland under the motto “Elevating Ceramic Dental Implantology: Mastering Precision with SDS AMBASSADOR Techniques”. Once again, spectacular speakers as well as many innovative companies will be on site as exhibitors and co-designers of the congress.
The congress, which is jointly organized with 4 societies, will of course once again offer simultaneous translation (EN/DE) to the participants. In addition to the ISMI (International Society of Metal Free Implantology), the SBCB (Society for Blood Concentrates and Biomaterials e.V.), the CBDF (Ceramics & Biological Dentistry Foundation) and the AO (Academy of Osseointegration) from the USA are also participating in the event.
The 4th Joint Congress for Ceramic Implantology will take place in the rooms of the SWISS BIOHEALTH EDUCATION CENTER. The educational institute offers a unique atmosphere and the environment to hold the congress at an absolute top level.
